reboot, refresh.

New things are afoot. It’s been 8 months since the last redesign here, and it’s time for a change, both in the design and the function of this site. So, I opted for an even more stripped down look — almost nothing but typography, colors and some textural accents. I did, however, break out a bunch of advanced techniques I’ve learned recently, including grid-based layouts, Swiss typography, CSS sprites and transparent .PNGs. It’s been refreshing and educational, and I think the design serves the site’s purpose much better. After all, this is a personal portfolio; distractions be damned.

I also want to try something new with the blog. Inspired by ABriefMessage, I’d like to bring greater focus to my writing by doing regular pieces on specific topics, each no more than 200 words. I think it’ll help me write more concisely, with less rambling and more substance. It will be great practice for the near future.

Expect a restaurant review this weekend. Maybe next week I’ll tackle lite politics. In the spirit of less being more, cheers!
