mired in a sludge swamp…
I’ve discovered (with some help) the greatest music blog of all time. Sludge Swamp not only has one of the greatest <title> tags I’ve seen in any website, they also feature some of the best heavy music you’ve never heard of this side of Black Sabbath. In the few days I’ve known about this blog, I’ve already found about a dozen new bands that I can get excited about discovering. That’s more than I can say for almost any two-day period since I was awakened to Led Zeppelin back in high school.
Of course, the audience for Sludge Swamp is fairly limited, in that you have to be somewhat of a fan of the types of sludgy, doom-laden psychedelic blues rock that sound exactly like the dense smoke emanating from the top of your huge bong. Luckily for me, I happen to be one of those, and I’m in stoner rock heaven. To clarify, I’m not a stoner by any interpretation; this music eliminates the need for any controlled substances.
Here’s my new favorite album of the moment, which you should listen to immediately if you’re in the mood for the musical equivalent of George Romero: Electric Wizard’s We Live.
