I’m only sleeping.
Like so many occasional songwriters before me, I often wish I had half the lyrical abilities of Lennon and McCartney. They always have this easy cadence and unpretentious eloquence that makes even the most boring subject seem interesting and emotionally meaningful, and even the most melodramatic subjects seem subtle and original.
when I wake up early in the morning
lift my head, I’m still yawning
when I’m in the middle of a dream
stay in bed, float upstreamplease don’t wake me
no, don’t shake me
leave me where I am
I’m only sleepingeverybody seems to think I’m lazy
I don’t mind, I think they’re crazy
running everywhere at such a speed
til they find, there’s no needplease don’t spoil my day
I’m miles away
and after all
I’m only sleepingkeeping an eye on the world going by my window
taking my timelying there and staring at the ceiling
waiting for a sleepy feelingplease don’t spoil my day
I’m miles away
and after all
I’m only sleepingkeeping an eye on the world going by my window
taking my timewhen I wake up early in the morning
lift my head, I’m still yawning
when I’m in the middle of a dream
stay in bed, float upstreamplease don’t wake me
no, don’t shake me
leave me where I am
I’m only sleeping-D
