explosions in the sky.

So I had my parents over my place for Independence Day celebratory activities today. Celebrating July 4 means drinking beer, eating a lot of excellent food (the ‘rents brought stuff from Flushing, including some of the best dan dan noodles I’ve ever had, from an excellent restaurant called Spicy & Tasty, but that’s the subject of another post), watching a Japanese samurai movie, and finally, sitting outside in the rain and waiting for the Macy’s fireworks show. Despite the unpleasant weather, the show was awesome. This marked the first time I’ve ever seen the New York fireworks show live, and we had an amazing view from the lawn of my apartment building on the East River. I took tons of pictures, many of which came out blurry as hell, but the good ones are up here on flickr.

Thus commences my mini-weekend. Back to work tomorrow. Bah, we should get Wednesday off every week.
