I’ve been playing around with adding some new features/technologies to my site in the past few days. So this is just a post to ask you to please give me some feedback if you notice anything behaving wonkily — specifically with page layouts and typography. Here are a couple of the things I’ve added in recent days:
- 1pixelout’s audio player - This applies only to the music page. It allows visitors to stream all of the tracks that I posted on that page. I left the download links up in case it wasn’t working for everyone, but please let me know if something doesn’t look or act right with the streaming audio.
- sIFR - This is the most interesting (and potentially most unpredictable) technology I’ve added to the site. sIFR is, basically, a method that allows me to use whatever fonts I want without having to worry about whether you have those fonts installed on your computer. You’ll see the fonts that I want you to see, no matter what. This is accomplished through some pretty complex backend operations involving javascript, flash and replacement of specific lines of text. You might notice the change in font for the main titles. I’ve already noticed that it causes pages to behave weirdly if you resize your browser window, but that the problem doesn’t manifest unless you resize it without reloading the page. But again, please let me know if this causes problems for you, as I can easily revert back to normal text.
That’s about it for now, but as always, please tell me if you have any suggestions or see anything that doesn’t look right on this site!
